Composite Advantage recently designated SCIGRIP’s SG230 HV methacrylate adhesives as the structural adhesive for assembly of its FiberSPAN™ products – non-slip composite bridge decks used in multiple pedestrian and vehicle bridge projects. Recent structures include a vehicle bridge in Washington, DC; a three-span pedestrian bridge that crosses over ten lanes of highway to Dulles Airport; a signature pedestrian bridge on the north bank of the Charles River near downtown Boston; as well as two pedestrian bridges that span railroad tracks and connect the Anacostia River Walk Trails in Washington, DC. Composite Advantage required a strong, but lightweight adhesive that could provide permanent adhesion in harsh operating environments, while maintaining elasticity. In addition to its proven strength, SCIGRIP’s SG230 HV was recommended for its ability to work with a selection of activators to provide users with working times from 30 to 120 minutes.
SCIGRIP’s SG230 HV methacrylate adhesive is a two-component, 10:1 mix ratio product for bonding composite and other plastic parts with minimal surface preparation. The adhesive is designed to work with a selection of activators, providing a wide range of working times ranging from 30 to 120 minutes. Typically used in marine, transportation and construction applications, and especially suited for bonding large structural parts requiring long working times and for filling deep irregular gaps up to 1.5 inches (39 mm), the SG230 HV adhesive is available in 490 ml cartridges; 5 and 50 gallon (19 and 189 liter) bulk containers for application with meter-mix dispense equipment.
