Hexion Inc., a global provider of adhesives and performance materials, announced that for the second year in a row, it has received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award — one of the highest honors bestowed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program.
ENERGY STAR award winners lead their industries in the production, sale, and adoption of energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies. These efforts are essential to fighting the climate crisis and protecting public health.
“This recognition underscores our commitment to doing our part to address the significant global challenges of climate change and resource scarcity,” said Craig Rogerson, chairman, president, and CEO. “We expect to continue to make significant progress in waste reduction, energy efficiency and other key sustainability metrics in 2022 and going forward.”
Hexion was recognized for several successes in waste reduction and energy efficiency in 2021, including reducing global energy intensity by approximately 10% since 2020 and by 23% since 2014. With cumulative cost reductions of nearly $16 million in the last seven years, the company completed 35 projects with $1.2 million in annual energy cost savings in 2021 alone.
Based in Columbus, Ohio, Hexion is a global provider in thermoset resins. It serves the global adhesive, coatings, and industrial markets through a broad range of thermoset technologies, specialty products, and technical support for customers in a diverse range of applications and industries.
Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy achievements.
This announcement follows several actions Hexion made to further its strategic sustainability practices in 2021, including the company’s commitment to reducing absolute carbon emissions by 20% by 2030.
