The Adhesive and Sealant Council participates in White House summit

By Michelle Froese | August 16, 2021

The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) participated in a White House summit in July to discuss supply-chain disruptions in the homebuilding industry.

ASC president, Bill Allmond, represented the adhesive and sealant industry perspective.

The summit included a small group of representatives from builders, lumber companies, retailers, realtors, loggers and labor unions, as well as other companies and organizations — which represent industries vital to homebuilding.

Bill Allmond, ASC President, represented The Adhesive and Sealant Council.

Leading the summit was Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo who was joined by Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge, National Economic Council Director Brian Deese, and Council of Economic Advisers Chair Cecilia Rouse.

The U.S. adhesive manufacturing industry was significantly impacted by the deep freeze along the Texas Gulf Coast in February, which led to severe supply chain disruption, price increases, and product shortages, many of which continue today.

These challenges have consequently impacted downstream industries that use adhesives and sealants in their manufacturing process.

“The adhesive and sealant industry is essential to American manufacturing, as our technology solutions successfully enable thousands of everyday products and help them perform more sustainably,” said Allmond. “We stand ready to assist the Biden Administration identify long term solutions that strengthen the resilience of our supply chains and better prepare them for the future.”
