SKF Introduces a Range of Custom Machined Sealing Solutions

By Editor | September 10, 2013

SKF introduces a comprehensive range of custom machined sealing solutions exclusively engineered for applications in the hydropower industry. SKF can supply virtually any kind of seal for any application and in any quantity, dimension, and profile. All can be manufactured from a proprietary self-lubricated cast polyurethane material blend offering up to four times the service life of conventional seal materials. Additional material options also are available to meet specific application demands. SKF seals for hydropower plants ultimately install quickly to minimize downtime and the maintenance requirements associated with the de-commissioning of equipment during seal replacement.

SKF can deliver one-piece designs for seals up to 4,000mm in diameter or spliced designs using a welding technique to achieve the performance and integrity of an endless seal for those seals greater than 10,000mm in diameter. All can be delivered with minimal turnaround time in single-box or bulk packaging in limitless numbers.

SKF engineered designs ranging from flexible and compact radial lip seals to chevron and loaded cap seals can equip the wide range of hydropower industry applications, including (but not limited to) rotor blades, wicket gates, spherical valves, upper and lower ring gates, and butterfly valves. Each seal carries particular application advantages and benefits from flexibility in size and design to realize optimized performance and service life, regardless of end-use.

SKF can assist by providing on-site welding and installation service.
