Shurtape Technologies, LLC, a manufacturer and marketer of adhesive products, has combined its expertise in material science and adhesive formulation to develop products for the building envelope within its Engineered Solutions Group (ESG).
ESG partners directly with OEMs of products for exterior wall coverings, roof decks, fenestrations, and other building envelope and enclosure applications to develop custom-engineered adhesive solutions that yield end-products for improving the building envelope’s overall performance.
One such product is the ShurGRIP, which offers primerless adhesion for optimal performance and longevity ShurGRIP UV-Cured Acrylic Adhesive is the latest formulation that’s designed to enhance the performance and longevity of materials used in the building envelope, including flashing tapes, water-resistive barriers (WRBs), sheathing, and roof underlays.
Designed to help improve the durability and energy efficiency of the buildings in which it is used, the new ShurGRIP UV-Cured Acrylic Adhesive is a solvent-free acrylic adhesive formulated to provide an exceptional bond to an array of building materials and for high performance in any climate. It features excellent cold-temperature performance, including primerless adhesion to exterior glass-faced gypsum, plywood and OSB at 0° F (-18° C), making installation easier, faster, and less susceptible to delays due to inclement weather.
A high-performance goal
ESG’s mission is to manufacture high-performance, self-adhesive products that increase the competitive position of OEMs. In addition, ESG operates as an adjunct new product development and innovation resource for leading companies around the globe.
To achieve those goals, ESG partners with OEM manufacturers through a five-step methodology to understand the complexities of specific application, performance and processing requirements, all while making the design process easy and seamless:
1. Discovery: Outline specific application needs and criteria.
2. Analysis: ESG researches materials and options to meet performance requirements.
3. Prototype: A sample is created, tested and adapted based on feedback.
4. Qualification: Once the initial sample meets requirements, a scalable solution is made for field testing.
5. Delivery: A custom-made adhesive solution is finalized and delivered. ESG offers ongoing support for any implementation needs after delivery
“The Engineered Solutions Group is a result of decades of experience, research, and application testing. We create custom solutions for our OEM partners so they can deliver exceptional performance in the field,” said Mark Hooks, VP of sales operations for Shurtape Technologies.
