Ramco invests in new part formers to extend its production capabilities

By Michelle Froese | November 5, 2021

The new part formers will specialize in custom-designed parts, including cold-formed ball studs, ball joints, and pipe nuts.

Ramco Specialties, Inc., a provider and producer of critical components, recently announced that it has invested in two new, six-station part formers — with diameter capabilities of 48 and 30mm.

The six-station, 48mm part former is equipped with a forging load of 1,000 tons, with a two kick-out stroke that produces parts up to nine inches parts with an upset diameter that can go out to nearly three inches. These measurements are twice as large as the company’s current capabilities.

The limited availability of large part-forming machines in the U.S. makes this $4.5 million investment significant not only for Ramco but also in local manufacturing job creation.

The part formers will specialize in custom-designed parts, such as cold-formed ball studs, ball joints, and pipe nuts. The longer stroke on the machines will allow Ramco to develop more complex and critical parts.

In addition to the two new machines, which will be based in Ohio, Ramco Europe has acquired a 41-inch part-former machine that’s designed specifically for customized brake parts.
