PEMSERTER Series 4 Press from PennEngineering

By Patrick Curran | October 15, 2009

The PEMSERTER® Series 4® press for installing self-clinching fasteners has been augmented with several new standard features, including laser pointer, stroke counter, and lockable cabinet for storage of tools and accessories. This press ideally suits short to medium production runs and enables more safe, accurate, and cost-effective fastener installation compared with arbor presses, brake presses, or other general equipment. Its use additionally allows other dedicated shop equipment to remain in service for originally intended operations.

The Series 4 press uses pneumatic power to deliver speed, consistency, and simple operation with only shop air required; an 18”/45.7 cm throat depth provides clearance for a wide variety of chassis configurations; rapid tooling changeover capabilities save time during production; and an integral “point-of-operation” safety contributes to operator confidence and overall system integrity.

The press can permanently install self-clinching fasteners with thread sizes #0 / M2 through 3/8” / M10 in steel and sizes up to ½” / M12 in aluminum panels or circuit boards. Insertion force is adjustable from 1,000 lbs. to 6 tons and 4.5 kN to 53.4 kN to satisfy virtually any application demand.

Available options include anvil holders and special tooling, including the PEMSERTER QX4™ manual Turret Tool System enabling quick change between four different anvil tools. Users can additionally take advantage of the PEMSERTER Series 4 rebuild program for existing presses to enhance and extend operational life.
