PEM® self-clinching prevailing torque locknuts provide ideal solutions to prevent mating hardware from loosening in service due to vibration or other application-related factors. This growing family of fasteners includes a variety of types and different locking-feature styles to satisfy a wide range of applications. Their use can save time and money compared with alternative chemical locking methods or patches.
PEMHEX® locknuts integrate a nylon hexagonal element to create a reusable, non-metallic prevailing torque thread lock that eliminates possible galling and any need for lubricant; TRI-DENT® locknuts achieve prevailing locking torque using an indenting process that deforms the top thread; PEMFLEX® locknuts feature two rugged, semicircular flexing jaws that prevent loosening of mating hardware in especially severe service applications; and miniature locknuts and floating types develop prevailing locking torque through a process that elliptically squeezes the tops of the fasteners. All PEM clinch locknuts install permanently in thin metal sheets.
Depending on type, PEM locknuts demonstrate thread-locking performance equivalent to applicable NASM25027 specifications or meet relevant IFI or ANSI torque requirements. Versions are available in steel, stainless steel, or aluminum and in thread sizes from #2-56 and M2.5 through #10-32 and M5.
