Makita U.S.A., Inc., a provider in cordless power-tool innovation, recently released the 18V LXT Brushless 1/2-inch right-angle drill (tool only — XAD05Z) and the 18V LXT Brushless 7/16-inch Hex right-angle drill (tool only — XAD06Z).
These new cordless angle drills take on the most demanding applications, such as drilling up to five-inch holes with hole saws and 2-9/16-inch holes with self-feed bits. The drills are ideal for the electrical, utility, and plumbing trades.
The XAD05Z and XAD06Z are equipped with an efficient brushless motor and each can drill up to 200, 7/8-inch holes in 2X SPF on a single charge of an LXT 5.0Ah Battery (sold separately). The two-speed transmission delivers no-load speeds of 0-450 RPM and 0-1,400 RPM.
Added features include metal gear housing for durability, a soft start for smooth start-ups, an electric brake for maximum productivity, and dual L.E.D. lights to illuminate the work area. Both right angle drills include a retractable tool hook and side handle which attaches to either side of the tool.
The right-angle drills are also equipped with Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). XPT is a series of integrated seals designed to improve a tool’s operation in harsh conditions. Water and solid debris that enter a tool are redirected through carefully engineered channels and ducts to prevent damage to key components, such as triggers, motors, and other electronics.
The 18V LXT System
The LXT System, currently the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries, takes a user from power tools to outdoor power equipment to get the job done. Makita 18V LXT Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, both driver-drills feature Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.
