Makita extends its 18V LXT sub-compact line of tools

By Michelle Froese | August 18, 2021

The 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless 1/2-inch Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH15) is only 6-1/2 inches in length for a compact drilling solution.

Makita U.S.A., Inc., a top provider of cordless power tool innovation, announced the launch of four new tools:

  • 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless
  • 1/2-inch Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH15)
  • Impact Driver (XDT18)
  • 1/2-inch Driver Drill (XFD15).

These new LXT Products offer users compact tools to access tight spaces. Additional features include an all-metal 1/2-inch, self-ratcheting chuck for improved bit-gripping strength, a built-in L.E.D. light that helps illuminate the work surface, and a rubberized grip for increased comfort.

The hammer driver-drill is also equipped with Extreme Protection Technology (XPT), a protective seal inside the tool engineered for improved water resistance by channeling water and dust from the tool’s key internal components.

The 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless Impact Driver (XDT18)offers a variable two-speed operation for a wide range of fastening applications. The Assist Mode (A-Mode) helps eliminate screw cam-out and cross threading by driving at low speed until tightening begins and is ideal for driving longer fasteners.

It also delivers 1,240 in.lbs. of Max Torque. Other features include wo L.E.D. lights to illuminate the work area and a ball-bearing design to minimize bit wobble when fastening.

At only 5-1/4 in. and 2.6 lbs. (with 2.0Ah battery), it’s a fastening solution with superior comfort and handling. The 18V Sub-Compact Impact Driver offers the size and weight of lower voltage tools, but with the performance, power, and compatibility of 18-Volt. It’s identified by the distinctive black trade dress.

The 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless Driver-Drill is a drilling and driving solution with significantly less weight. The XFD15 offers the size and weight of lower voltage tools, but with the performance, power, and compatibility of 18V.

It has an efficient brushless motor with two speed settings and two L.E.D. lights to illuminate the work area. At only 5-7/8 inches long, it’s a compact drilling and driving solution with superior comfort and handling. This driver-drill is ideal for working in tight spaces.

The LXT System, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries, takes a user from power tools to outdoor power equipment to get the job done. Makita 18V LXT Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, both driver-drills feature Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating.
