Makita expands its cordless hammer driver-drill line

By Michelle Froese | August 14, 2023

The newly released 18V LXT Compact Brushless 1/2″ Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH16) features increased power for a range of drilling, driving, and hammer applications.

Makita U.S.A., a manufacturer of high-quality professional tools and accessories, has released the 18V LXT Compact Brushless 1/2″ Hammer Driver-Drill Kit, the XPH16. What’s more, the 5.0Ah battery and charger are included in the kit.

The 1/2″ Hammer Driver-Drill features a Makita-built brushless motor that delivers up to 970 in.lbs. of max torque for up to 70% more power. than previous models. The electronically controlled brushless motor efficiently uses energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application.

The variable two-speed design covers a wide range of drilling, driving and hammer-drilling applications.

The XPH16 features a compact and ergonomic design at only 6-7/8″ long and weighs only 4.9 lbs. with 5.0Ah battery for reduced operator fatigue. The Hammer Driver-Drill also offers a rubberized soft grip that provides increased comfort on the job and features dual L.E.D. lights to illuminate the work area.

“Makita revolutionizes user experience with the new Brushless Hammer Driver Drill, offering a versatile tool with high torque and a compact size,” said Benjamin Alvarado, product manager, with Makita. “This is an ideal solution for users looking for a drill that can offer a wide range of applications.”

For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls for improved tool performance and extended battery life. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating.
