Dymax, a global manufacturer of rapid-curing materials and equipment, recently introduced its latest adhesive for the assembly of electric vehicle batteries: Dymax Ultra Light-Weld 9501-F .
Dymax 9501-F is a solvent-free, one-component acrylated urethane that can replace solvent-based epoxy urethane and silicone materials, making the entire production process significantly more environmentally friendly.
With a viscosity of 10,000 mPas, the adhesive is relatively thick and remains in place when applied to the parts to be bonded. This means that precise assembly and needs-based curing are easily possible.
This extremely low-shrink, UV adhesive was specially developed for attaching cylindrical battery cells to plastic bases and holders and has excellent adhesive strength on common substrates such as PC, PC/ABS, nickel-plated steel, and aluminum.
Dymax Ultra Light-Weld 9501-F cures tack-free under UV or visible light in seconds. It can also be cured with an LED light at a wavelength of 385 nm. Thanks to the short curing time, the assembled components can be further processed in the production line quickly. This ensures that the throughput capacity is increased and the overall manufacturing and labor costs are reduced.
In addition, the Dymax 9501-F has proven to be reliable in the test procedures commonly used for electric vehicles, (e.g. B. high temperatures and high humidity as well as temperature shocks). However, this UV adhesive is also ideal for flat potting and the sealing of plugs, thermal switches, sensors, and tamper protection. For a simple quality check, the material fluoresces light blue under black light.
