Avery Dennison launches pressure-sensitive tapes for interior buildings market

Avery Dennison Performance Tapes has announced a new portfolio of interior surface bonding solutions for the building and construction segment.

The Avery Dennison Interior Surfaces portfolio offers nine pressure-sensitive tape constructions featuring a variety of adhesive technologies applicable for bonding materials to commercial and residential interior surfaces. A proven technology, pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes are used widely in residential and commercial settings.

The Interior Surfaces portfolio is designed to address key challenges faced by manufacturers, architects, designers, suppliers and DIY consumers of interior products in the building and construction industry, including using bonding elements that provide ease of use, application flexibility, durability, and consumer safety.

“Our tapes are easy to use, reliable and effective. They can join, mount, attach, or fasten without the use of mechanical fasteners or wet glue systems,” said Kevin Jewell, product manager, Building & Construction, Avery Dennison Performance Tapes North America.  “By combining adhesive technologies from our expansive portfolio, we can offer a wide product range to address challenging interior surface bonding requirements.”

The products within the portfolio can be used for applications, such as:

  • Wall mountings
  • Functional mountings
  • Backsplashes and tiles
  • Ceilings
  • Flooring
  • Blinds

The portfolio addresses key issues, such as:

Ease of use
Pressure-sensitive adhesives adhere quickly with no mess, are conformable, and can be re-positionable, removable, and/or permanent. They require minimal training to install and are a reliable alternative to mechanical fasteners and wet glue systems.

Application flexibility
Pressure-sensitive adhesives can be engineered to bond to a variety of challenging substrates, including low surface energy (LSE) and irregular surfaces. They can also be used for mounting, gap filling, and gasketing applications.

Strength and durability
Pressure-sensitive adhesives provide exceptional dead-load shear performance. They resist plasticizers and other chemicals, UV light, humid environments, and temperature extremes.

Consumer safety
Pressure-sensitive adhesives can be formulated to meet consumers’ comfort and safety needs, including low VOC levels, fire retardancy, and more.
