Modern manufacturing professionals are demanding a cordless blind rivet-nut tool that delivers rapid, high-volume placement capabilities from a mobile product that eliminates the constraints and hazards of a compressed air line.
To this end, Stanley Engineered Fastening has designed the NB08PT-18 Battery-Powered Blind Rivet-Nut Tool to meet the needs of the user. The tool offers a compact, cordless, ergonomic design for greater mobility, ease-of-use, and access across a range of applications. It also features several performance enhancing capabilities to reduce wasted downtime and boost operator output.
For example, the NB08PT-18 incorporates a push-start function that allows the user to rapidly mount blind rivet nuts onto the mandrel and reduce wasted handling time between fastenings. The blind rivet nut is automatically loaded onto the tool by applying axial pressure to the drive screw (mandrel).
This feature, combined with tool-less, quick-change nose housing, and pull-to-force or pull-to-stroke capabilities provides operators an adaptable, cordless tool that’s capable of delivering productivity across a range of differing plate thicknesses.
The NB08PT-18 also prevents unscheduled downtime, combining the benefits of long-lasting DEWALT 2.0Ah battery lithium-ion battery with fast-charging capabilities. The tool has the ability to install up to 900 (M6 steel) blind rivet nuts on a single charge.
Additionally, its built-in LED light ensures greater operator function across tight, enclosed, or hard-to-reach applications. The tool maximizes output and reduces operator fatigue thanks to its balanced, ergonomic design.
“The new NB08PT-18 marks an exciting new development in the STANLEY technology range of cordless tools,” said Sean McGain-Harding, global product management director with Stanley Engineered Fastening.
Quality-control features
Quality fastening is the main key performance indicator for most industrial manufacturers. As such, the NB08PT-18 contains a wide range of quality-control measures to ensure repeatable, reliable assemblies with every application.
The easy-to-use touchscreen control panel allows operators to quickly switch between the pull-to-force or pull-to-stroke settings to ensure performance across a wider range of applications and plate thicknesses.
The onboard poke-yoke and cycle counter displays ensure fewer quality issues across all applications, reducing the likelihood of incorrectly installed or missing fastenings that can lead to costly reworks or possible product recall.
The touchscreen controls are also password protected to mitigate the risk of introducing unnecessary quality issues. Also, advanced connectivity lets operators easily download application data from every job, providing inventory management, service, and support.
